All Paws In Rye Thrives Thanks To Owner's Pet Expertise

RYE, N.Y. -- Claudia Baker says it's her personal attention to detail and top quality products that helps make her Rye gourmet pet store, All Paws, a popular destination for pet lovers.

Baker, who's owned the store for nine years -- it's been in business for 14 -- said she spends a lot of time researching dog food, so she can point her customers in the right direction based on their pet's needs. "That's my cornerstone," she said.

What further separates All Paws from chain stores is her dedication to stocking her store with the healthiest, most natural treats. Baker revamped her treat department after discovering that a quarter of the previous owner's treats were made in China.

"I got rid of all of those treats and made sure everything was made and sourced in the U.S.A. and in the last six years I’ve gotten really focused on the ingredients of the treats," she said. "Now, I look for treats with a single ingredient or limited ingredients. It makes for a cleaner, more natural item that’s better for the dog."

Baker's best selling dog treats are her Chicken Chips, which are great for any type of dog, young or old, big or small. These chips are made with one ingredient: U.S.F.D.A. approved, hormone-free Chicken.

All Paws also carries gourmet cookies and cakes made for pets by a bakery in Staten Island. "People look me up specifically for these types of treats," she explained.

The newest items in store are light-up collars and leashes by 4 Paw Tech designed to make pets more visible in their surroundings at night. These collars and leashes can be charged with a USB port.

All Paws is located at 31 Purchase St., (914) 921- 1690
