Dear faculty, parents and students:

I am very pleased to be joining the Tuckahoe Schools for this coming year to serve as your interim superintendent. Previously, I served the neighboring Pelham Public Schools as their superintendent for 13 years, and prior to that, as North Salem's superintendent for four years. I have held many other leadership roles in public education, including principal of Tenafly High in New Jersey.

Some of you may also remember me as the consultant who was brought into your school system in 2012 to conduct an exhaustive needs assessment, which became a basis of a school improvement plan. This plan was further spelled out in the form of a detailed strategic plan, which has been implemented since 2013. It is a five-year plan that concludes in 2018. This means that I will be working to ensure the remainder of the plan is implemented and that it is updated in reference to current and changing challenges.

Of course, as superintendent, I look forward to overseeing all school operations, and working with you again to help the Tuckahoe Schools maintain its excellence while continuing to grow and improve. When a new longer-term superintendent is selected by the board, I look forward to working with him or her to ensure an effective transition in the summer of 2016.

In the coming months, I wish to stress that I believe in an open door policy; I encourage you to contact me anytime you have a question, a problem, suggestion or other matters of interest or concern. It is only by having an open line of communication that our school district will be able to sustain a successful trajectory going forward.

I will be distributing new school year goals in September in accordance with the board and district plans for the coming year. I very much look forward to our working together for the coming school year.
