Robert Buote, a trustee of Wellington Trust, purchased a $15.8 million home in North Salem on behalf of Gates last year, marking the second most expensive transaction north of Manhattan in 2018. The deal was closed on Jan. 5.

According to PropertyShark, which released the report, eight of the 10 properties that made the list (of most expensive traded) are in Westchester, with the remaining two in Dutchess. They considered every county north of New York City Upstate New York, including Westchester and Rockland. According to the website, "If (they) were to exclude Westchester and Rockland counties, the ranking would’ve been very different, with Dutchess County dominating the top."

The home at 371-397 Mills Road sits on 124 acres. The 3,560-square-foot home was built in 1930 and features four bathrooms and four bedrooms. According to multiple reports, the Westchester farmhouse was a gift from the Gates to their daughter, Jennifer Gates, who graduated from Stanford University.
