Brittany Keifer, 27, took a deal from prosecutors, pleading guilty to leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident resulting in serious bodily harm, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley Billhimer said.
In exchange, Superior Court Judge Wendel E. Daniels sentenced Keifer to three years probation, 50 hours of community service and one year's loss of driving privilege. She also was fined $2,500.
Co-defendant Kyle Ramos, 29, of Seaside Heights, previously entered a guilty plea to hindering apprehension or prosecution.
Ramos, who will be sentenced at a later date, picked up Keifer several blocks from the scene of the Aug. 9, 2019 crash on Route 88, helped her hide her BMW and then tried to have it repaired to try and conceal the crime, Billhimer said.
Keifer's sedan struck Emma Mae Gnolfo, 14, a popular cheerleader entering her freshman year, as the teen tried to cross the highway.
Gnoflo rolled onto the hood and windshield and was carried for a distance before being thrown, prosecutors said at the time.
She was hospitalized in critical condition and needed more than a month to recover, loved ones said.
Keifer surrendered to police the following day.
A close friend of Gnoflo's launched a GoFundMe campaign that raised more than $30,000 toward her medical expenses. The Point Pleasant Chamber of Commerce contributed over $15,000 more.
