Eastchester Cops Charge White Plains Man With Cocaine Possession

EASTCHESTER, NY - A 30-year-old White Plains resident who tried to back away from a police checkpoint Saturday evening was charged with DWI and cocaine possession.

Police said James Martino caught their attention by driving his 2011 Honda Accord backwards away from a police checkpoint on Leewood Drive.  Police reported they found a bag of cocaine lying next to the driver in plain view and said Martino then revealed two more bags hidden under the passenger seat. After a full search of the car was complete, police said an additional bag of cocaine was found in the driver's side door.

Martino was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance, driving while intoxicated and having a blood alcohol level exceeding 0.08.

He was being held on $5,000 cash bail.
