Police Officer Julia Ashworth responded to a call for a suspicious vehicle just after 3 p.m. The victim, a 12-year-old female, said a white utility van drove around the vicinity of Fairfax Avenue several times, officials said.

At one point, the victim said the van stopped and the driver, a white male, asked her if she had seen his kitten. The victim said "no," and the van drove off, authorities said.

The suspect is described as a male with a gray beard, gray short hair that was slicked back, wearing eyeglasses and a multi-colored floral shirt. The man's van also has a large scratch under the rear window.
