Student Awards Top Eastchester's News This Week

EASTCHESTER, N.Y. -- Awards presented to a Tuckahoe student and an Eastchester alumni top this week's news.

  • Hannah Zamor of the Immaculate Conception School in Tuckahoe was one of the winners of Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino's Challenge in Education. Zamor topped the benchmark 3.8 grade point average, and was honored at a town hall meeting Astorino hosted in Mount Vernon.
  • Piya Kerdlap of the Eastchester High School class of 2009 was awarded a Fulbright U.S. Student Program scholarship. Kerdlap recently graduated from the University of North Carolina, and will continue his studies in the field of energy in Thailand next year.
  • Registration is now open for the 37th annual Tuckahoe Challenge Road Race. The popular event includes a one-mile race and a five-mile race, and will be held at the Tuckahoe Community Center on Sept. 8.
