Marcotte Wins District 10 Conservative Primary

EASTCHESTER, N.Y. --  Incumbent Westchester County Legislator Sheila Marcotte won the Conservative Party primary Tuesday night, according to unofficial results from the county board of elections.

Marcotte represents the 10th district, which covers Eastchester, Tuckahoe and New Rochelle. She will also run on the Republican and Independent lines in the November general election.

The unofficial tally has Marcotte with 43 votes and challenger Marilena Sophia with only 14 votes.

According to the board of elections, 60 percent of the town’s districts reported the results with only 57 voters casting ballots.

Only registered Conservatives were allowed to vote, according to Eastchester Conservative Committee Chair Bob Fois.

Marcotte said she is most proud of being part of the county board of legislators that decreased taxes.

If she wins re-election in November, Marcotte said she plans to keep a tight rein on spending in the county.

“Westchester County does not have a revenue problem it has a spending problem and basic kitchen table economics dictates that you cannot spend what you do not have,” she said.

Marcotte will face Democrat John Fitzgerald, former Mayor of Tuckahoe, in the November election.
