Man Electrocuted in Eastchester Near Rail Tracks

A man who was zapped by 13,000 volts of electricity on the railroad tracks by the Eastchester Metro-North station and survived, remains in critical condition in Westchester Medical Center.

Leonard Telesco, Jr., of the Bronx was shocked and fell 30 feel off a pole located on the Harlem Line train tracks between Leewood Drive and Harney Road. Officials said they don't know what he was doing on the track, but that he might have been trying to steal copper. Metro-North spokesperson Marjorie Anders said MTA officials have not been able to speak to Telesco about the incident.

Eastchester police said they received a call just before 3 am on Monday morning from a woman who said a man came up to her and said his friend had been electrocuted and was lying on the train tracks.

Eastchester police arrived first on the scene according to Lt. Robert Jensen, but immediately called MTA Police.

A second Bronx man, Eugene Harris, Jr, 45, was later arrested by MTA police and charged with third degree criminal trespass, a misdemeanor. He was arraigned in Eastchester Town Court.
