Eastchester's Girl Scouts Schedule Cabin Cleanup For 2015 Earth Day

The Girl Scout cabin cleanup will be April 19.
The Girl Scout cabin cleanup will be April 19.

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- The 2015 Earth Day Cleanup at the Girl Scout cabin property will be from noon to 3 p.m. Sunday, April 19.

They will be picking up trash, cleaning up debris, planting some native plants and removing invasive plants and vines. As usual, they will supply some gloves, loppers, grabbers, rakes and bags but if you have your own gloves and tools, please do bring them. They also will supply refreshments, such as coffee and sweets to keep you well fueled but please bring your own reusable water bottle. Dress appropriately for the weather of the day but water/mud proof boots are always an asset. Wear long sleeves or jacket in case it is cool and wearing a baseball cap can help keep branches away from the face.

These cleanups are actually fun and, of course, very rewarding. Come for as long as you can, bring your friends, neighbors, kids, and kids' friends. It's a great way to commune with nature on this wonderful piece of Mother Earth right here in the middle of suburbia. Sponsored by the Junior League of Central Westchester, Hudson Valley Girl Scouts, Twin Lakes Civic Association, California Ridge Civic Association and the Eastchester Environmental Committee Please call (917) 497-9285 for more information.
