The New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services issued an alert this week to Westchester residents regarding the residency of 39-year-old John Thomas, has moved from Manhattan to Highland Avenue in Yonkers.
The Division of Criminal Justice Services has assigned Thomas as a level two threat, which means he is at "moderate risk of a repeat offense." He has also been designated as a "sexually violent offender."
According to the Division of Criminal Justice Services, Thomas had sexual intercourse with his 33-year-old victim in June 2010, choking her during the assault. He was convicted of first-degree attempted rape with forcible compulsion in July the following year and sentenced to 10 years in state prison. As part of his sentence, Thomas must comply to a curfew and participate in sex offender treatment programs. He is now under the jurisdiction of the Yonkers City Police Department SOR Unit.
