The graduates earned their aviation maintenance technician certificates after completing a 20-month curriculum, which included 2,400 hours of operative skills development in order to meet the license requirements of the Federal Aviation Administration, making them eligible to test for their power plant certifications.

“There are countless opportunities and challenges related to your new area of expertise,” said the school's principal Scott Zito. “The key to success is still hard work and skills development. Your attendance here today shows that you have them both."

The graduates are:

  • Juan Carlos Fiallos Jr. of Ansonia
  • Ryan Craig Kennedy of West Haven

  • Fred C. Norman, Jr. of New Haven
  • Eric C. Candelario of the Bronx, N.Y.

The school offers students practical hands-on training and exposure to a variety of theory and shop classes, including metal work, woodwork, welding, hydraulics, electrical, electronics, painting and engine overhaul (turbine and reciprocation).

Students have the potential to become proficient in 50 skilled trade areas while learning to interpret FAA regulations and manufacturer's technical specifications. Graduates from the program may obtain jobs as mechanics at airports, technicians with aircraft and power plant companies.

The school is accredited by the Council of Occupational Education and operates on a rolling enrollment every 128 days. New classes begin every September, December and March.
