CROTON, N.Y. -- A newly listed Tuscan villa-style home has been standing in Croton for over 80 years. Once home to steel manufacturer and philanthropist W.R. Timken, the home includes incredible detail and work from a renowned artist.

22 Bramblebush Road is known as La Quercia, meaning "The Oak" in Italian. Sitting on nearly four acres, the home offers over 5,000 sq. ft of beautiful living space. The Oak, though true to its original design, has been updated to include modern amenities and appliances. "It's a Tuscan villa, standing right here in Croton," said Barry Graziano of Houlihan Lawrence. "It has come a long way since 1930 but offers a design and attention to detail that is impossible to find in today's market."

W.R. Timken, the former chairman of The Timken Company, a highly successful manufacturer of steel in Canton, Ohio, came to Westchester in search of a summer home. He found a lot in Croton in 1930, and began to build the massive villa from the ground up. Upon building, Timken commissioned Owen Bonawit, an artist who designed stained-glass windows at Yale, Duke, Northwestern, among other universities. Bonawit's details can still be appreciated on several stained glass windows in The Oak, as well as sculptured artwork on the house's facade and stone fireplace.

The Oak has retained the feeling of a Tuscan Villa, but features an updated modern kitchen with new cabinetry, a new heating and cooling system and a private deck overlooking the yard. "Walking around this home instantly makes you think of a private estate in Italy," said Graziano. "Every square foot has been thought about very carefully."

The grounds of 22 Bramblebush Road are equally impressive as its interior. The property includes wrought-iron fencing that surrounds both the rose garden and in-ground pool, a long driveway and an outdoor terrace. "You can see how much time and effort Timken put into this home," said Graziano. "Both inside and out, it's pretty spectacular."
