CORTLANDT, N.Y. – A Peekskill man was charged with violating Leandra’s Law when he was found driving intoxicated with a child in the car, Westchester County Police said.
Ivan Criado-Rodriguez, 23, was stopped Friday, March 29 on Route 9A at Kings Ferry Road after Police Officer Steven Stromberg observed a vehicle being driven erratically, a police report said. Criado-Rodriguez refused to get out of the car when requested to do so and then attempted to drive away before being subdued, according to police.
The child was turned over to a relative and child protective services was notified of the incident, police said.
Criado-Rodriguez was charged under Leandra's Law with aggravated driving while ability impaired by drugs, a felony, second-degree obstructing governmental administration and third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle, both misdemeanors.
