Nassau County Police said 22-year-old Sharayda Washington of West Hempstead was arrested Wednesday morning, Dec. 4 at the Nassau County Jail in East Meadow where he was being held on unrelated charges.
According to detectives, on Wednesday, March 13, officers from the Hempstead Police Department responded to a call for two male gunshot victims, both 16, in the rear parking area of 40 West Columbia Street.
Both victims were transported to an area hospital, one of whom, later identified as Josiah Tucker, succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead by a staff physician. The other victim sustained a non-life threatening gunshot wound and is being treated at the hospital.
Washington has been charged with second-degree murder and was scheduled to be arraigned on Wednesday, Dec. 4 at First District Court in Hempstead.
