The explosions and fire occurred on the morning of Monday, Nov. 20. Several were injured and one man, William Huntington, was killed.
"Investigators have determined that the fire began when static electricity caused the ignition of an ignitable liquid (hexamethyldisiloxane)," Orange County Deputy Commissioner of Fire Services Vini Tankasali said. "This occurred during the manufacturing process when an employee was wiping excess product in the batch room."
The Orange County Fire Investigation Unit was assisted by the New York State Office of Fire Prevention and Control, ATF, New Windsor Police Department and Vails Gate Fire Department in its investigation.
