CORTLANDT MANOR, N.Y. -- I am very proud the Town of Cortlandt received a prestigious award from the Westchester Municipal Planning Federation.

This planning achievement award was for our Cortlandt/Verplanck Waterfront Master Plan, where we have completed many projects and have a vision plan for future plans on this town-owned parkland along the Hudson River.

We have completed to date a beautiful veterans memorial, a public boat launch and ramp, a playground, renovated hangers to store crew boats for the Cortlandt Rowing Association (initiated by Councilman Francis Farrell) and a walking path.

We also have tables to sit and picnic. This summer, we started a free outdoor concert and movie series on the great lawn for our residents and families to enjoy (check our website for the schedule at www.townofcortlandt.com).

Our new plans will include a crew boat launch, other recreational activities, an amphitheatre, a possible restaurant, an environmental education center, etc. We had an excellent team throughout the years, including town board members, planning, engineering and legal staff, citizen groups and consultants, to assist us with our plans.

Our current Town Board (Richard Becker, Debbie Costello, Francis Farrell, Seth Freach) are hard at work with me and the staff for the next phase of improvements. The town also has received grants to help with the costs.

Thank you,

Linda D. Puglisi, Town of Cortlandt Supervisor
