CROTON-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. – Croton trustees approved an $18.1 million budget on April 29 for the 2013-14 fiscal year.
The adopted budget carries a tax levy of $10.8 million, with the rest being funded by non-tax revenues and the village’s fund balance.
The adopted budget was slightly different than the one that had been proposed earlier in the month, according to Croton-on-Hudson Village Manager Abraham Zambrano.
“The proposed budget had 5.38 percent tax increase, but the budget the board approved has a 2.41 percent tax rate increase,” Zambrano said.
The tax rate for village residents will be $240.75 per $1,000 of assessed property value.
No village positions were eliminated, but some employee responsibilities have been shifted, Zambrano said.
“There will be no caretaker assigned to the (village hall) building,” Zombrano said. “That person will be transferred to public works and someone else from public works will be doing some of the maintenance in the other municipal buildings like the firehouses and we are hiring a cleaning company to clean the offices.”
