CORTLANDT, N.Y. – The Town of Cortlandt will celebrate Earth Day this weekend with a community cleanup day and hike Saturday at Hudson Highlands Gateway Park.
There will be a family hike from 9 to 11 a.m. for residents ages 8 and up, with an adult hike to follow from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. All children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.
The 352-acre park contains more than 5 miles of trails and is co-owned by Scenic Hudson, the Town of Cortlandt and Westchester County.
Saturday’s events will take place rain or shine, and town staff recommends wear light-colored long-sleeve shirts, pants and hiking boots.
To sign up in advance, call Judi Peterson at 914-734-1002. Community service credit hours are available. All volunteers will receive event T-shirts.
Hudson Highlands Gateway Park is located off Route 9 in Annsville. Take Highland Avenue and turn left onto Sprout Brook Road, where two parking areas are available.
