Just before 4 a.m. Tuesday, May 6, Croton-on-Hudson firefighters were called to the train yard for reports of smoke inside a building, according to the Croton-on-Hudson Fire Department.

Crews arrived and found a confirmed smoke condition and a battery charger on fire. Firefighters quickly located the source, identified as a charging station for a power tool's lithium-ion battery. The battery and charger were badly scorched, and flames had begun to mark up the nearby wall.

Firefighters opened the wall to check for any hidden flames, cooled down the damaged equipment, cleared smoke from the building, and removed the scorched battery to prevent further risk.

Crews operated at the scene for just over an hour. No injuries were reported.
