CORTLANDT, N.Y. - It's budget season once again, and members of boards of education and towns boards are beginning to get ready for budget discussions. Check out our list of ways to be involved below, as well as for even more events going on this week, visit our Events page. 

Monday, Dec. 3

Cortlandt Town Board Budget Meeting: 7 p.m. The Cortlandt Town Board meets to discuss the budget for the 2012-2013 fiscal year. The meeting takes place at Cortlandt Town Hall, 1 Heady St., Cortlandt.

Croton Board of Trustees Meeting: 8 p.m. In addition to being a regular meeting of the Croton Board of Trustees, this also is a reorganizational meeting. Legislative action will be taken at this meeting, and a portion of the meeting will be reserved for public comment. The meeting takes place at the Stanley H. Kellerhouse Municipal Building, 1 Van Wyck St., Croton.

Tuesday, Dec. 4

Teen Book Club: 6:30-7:30 p.m. In the riveting historical adventure of "Avi- City of Orphans," the story of Max and his immigrant Danish family combines mystery with fast-moving plot twists. Register in advance with the Hendrick Hudson Free Library to receive a free copy of the book. The library is at 185 Kings Ferry Road, Montrose, call 914-739-5654.

Cortlandt Planning Board Meeting: 7 p.m. The Cortlandt Planning Board meets to discuss current development in the town. The meeting takes place at Cortlandt Town Hall, 1 Heady St., Cortlandt.

Croton Bicycle Pedestrian Committee: 7:30 p.m. This committee meets to discuss ways to make the village more friendly to bicyclists and pedestrians. The committee meets at the Stanley H. Kellerhouse Municipal Building, 1 Van Wyck St., Croton.

Wednesday, Dec. 5

Jack McGuire Holiday Basketball Tournament: 5-6:30 p.m. Hendrick Hudson students in fifth through 10th grade can participate in this holiday basketball tournament individually or in groups of four. The suggested donation is $10, and all proceeds benefit the Jack McGuire Scholarship Fund, which is given to a college-bound Henrick Hudson senior each year. The tournament takes place in the Hendrick Hudson High School Dome, 2166 Albany Post Road, Montrose.

Cortlandt Planning Board: 7 p.m. The Cortlandt Town Planning Board meets to discuss current developments in the town. This meeting takes place at Cortlandt Town Hall, 1 Heady St., Cortlandt.

Thursday, Dec. 6

Mother Goose and Toddler Time: 10:45-11:45 a.m. A story time and play group for children ages 4 months to 3 years and their caregivers. Share books and have time to socialize and play. This event takes place at the Croton Free Library, 171 Cleveland Drive, Croton.

Matinee Movie: 1:30 p.m. The Hendrick Hudson Free Library presents "Dark Shadows," a spoof on the 1960s gothic soap opera. The library is at 185 Kings Ferry Road, Montrose.
