CROTON-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. -- A lecture on "Weird Jewish History" is scheduled for Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at Temple Israel in Croton.
Bruce Applebaum will discuss Jewish history in the area, including fun facts like the story of a street in Cortland Manor named after a Jewish philanthropist who tried to stamp out Jewish poverty by distributing fishhooks and establishing an agricultural community in Argentina.
Light refreshments will be served.
