Officers with the Jersey City Police Department arrested a 17-year-old boy at the Booker T. Washington housing complex on a complaint of drug dealing around 6:20 p.m. Sunday, NJ.com reports.
The boy fled the scene upon police contact but was promptly apprehended and charged with possession of a firearm by a minor, possession of a prohibited weapon, unlawful possession of a handgun, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and resisting arrest, the article says.
A few hours later, officers located a man that had been shot in the vicinity of Van Nostrand and Bergen Avenue around 11 p.m. The man was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Police later apprehended 19-year-old Darby Shirdon near Fulton and Rose Avenue, reports say. Shirdon allegedly fled from police around 11:40 p.m. and discarded a handgun which was subsequently recovered.
Sheldon was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of a handgun, obstruction of governmental function and resisting arrest.
