CONGERS, N.Y. – Clarkstown Police reported that a rabid skunk was killed by a dog on Lakeland Avenue in Congers recently.
The homeowner contacted authorities after the dog attacked the skunk.
It was discovered that the skunk was rabid, putting both the dog and homeowner at risk of catching rabies.
The incident was reported to both Clarkstown Animal Control and the Rockland County Health Department, who requests that anyone in a similar situation contact their doctor as a precautionary measure.
