One Critically Injured In Seven Vehicle, Chain Reaction Long Island Crash

One person was critically injured in a chain-reaction seven-vehicle crash on Long Island.

State Police received a call for a vehicle collision in Suffolk County on the Robert Moses Causeway northbound on the main span, in town of Islip on Wednesday Aug. 5 at approximately 7:40 p.m.

Oscar A. Rios-Sosa, 30, of Brentwood, was driving a 2013 Mercedes on the northbound side when he failed to stop, as traffic was stopped, at which time he struck one vehicle from behind and caused six other vehicles to be struck, state police said.

Sameer Ramnarine, 19, of Jamaica, Queens, who was driving a 1997 Lexus, was critically injured and was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital in West Islip

No one in any of the other vehicles were injured in the collision.

The cause of the collision is still under investigation and the State Police is asking for anyone with information to call 631-756-3300.
