CLARKSTOWN, N.Y. -- Authorities are investigating a possible incident of attempted luring that occurred in New City on Wednesday, Clarkstown police said.
According to police, an 8-year-old girl was playing with friends in the front yard of her Morris Drive home when a man in a four-door black sedan with tinted windows pulled up.
The girl told her parents that the man gestured at them, but since they didn’t know who he was, they went back inside.
The children described the man as having “tan” skin, about 40 years old and wearing sunglasses.
Police, who searched for but did not locate the man, said Thursday that the incident appears to be an isolated one.
There were no other suspicious incidents reported in the area, police said.
Nevertheless, they are advising residents to remain vigilant and to report anything suspicious to them or to the Clarkstown Juvenile Aid Bureau, which is following up on the New City case.
The bureau can be reached at 845-639-5835.
