Rose Mitarotondo, 88, West Nyack Resident

WEST NYACK, N.Y. — West Nyack resident Rose (Prestano) Mitarotondo died Tuesday, April 26. She was 88.

Born in Manhattan, Mitarotondo met her husband, Peter, in the Bronx, and, in 1961, the two moved to Rockland County, where they raised their three children. Her favorite times included bus trips with her friends to Atlantic City.

She was predeceased by her husband of 55 years. 

She is survived by her three daughters, Marie Mitarotondo and husband Rod Herrera; Tana Ostrom and husband Raymond; Janice Berwick and husband Kenneth; her grandchildren, Michael, Elizabeth, Thomas, and Kathryn Herrera; Christopher and Kevin Ostrom; and John, Nicholas, Brian, and Timothy Berwick; her brothers, John Prestano and wife Nina, as well as Dominick Prestano.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 30, from 7-9 p.m. and Sunday, May 1, from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at the Joseph W. Sorce Funeral Home Inc., 728 West Nyack Road, in West Nyack.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, May 2, at 10 a.m. at the Shrine Church of St. Anthony, 36 West Nyack Road, Nanuet, NY 10954. Entombment will be in St. Anthony's Cemetery.
