ROCKLAND COUNTY, N.Y. - The Clarkstown Police Department had its hands full attempting to corral an unusual "suspect" over the weekend, when an emu got loose in New City.
An emu, which was affectionately dubbed “Ethel” by police, got out of her home on Strawtown Road in New City on Sunday afternoon, prompting neighbors to contact police, who swiftly jumped into action.
Officers were able to contain “Ethel” until the owner arrived and was able to safely get her home. Police said that they believe this to be the first emu call Clarkstown has dealt with. “Ethel” was safely returned to her own and police reported that she is “safe and sound at home.”
