CONGERS, N.Y. -- New York State Sen. David Carlucci and the New York Blood Center will host an emergency blood drive Monday at the Congers Community Center.
Type O blood is in critical need because it can be universally donated. The drive is being held to increase the amount of blood available for use in the event of an emergency. Blood also traditionally is in short supply during the winter months due to the holidays, travel schedules, inclement weather and illness.
Eligible donors include those people at least age 16 (with parental permission or consent), who weigh a minimum of 110 pounds, are in good health and are not feeling ill at the time of their donation. People older than 75 may donate with a doctor’s note.

The drive is from 3-7:30 p.m. Congers Community Center is at 6 Gilchrest Road.
