Anywhere in Nyack with a clear view of the southeast sky, people gathered to enjoy the show. This included Memorial Park, numerous docks on the Hudson, and even, for Nyack’s more ambitious Independence enthusiasts, the top of Hook Mountain.
What's more, at least six other fireworks shows where visible while looking down and across the Hudson River during the event.
All in all, of the families that came out, all were pleased by the show, put on by the Village of Nyack and co-sponsored by Cablevision.
And why wouldn’t they be pleased? Main Street, Nyack, for many, often feels more like an experience than just a plot of pavement.
After all the pyrotechnics and patriotic glory, hundreds flooded into downtown Nyack hungry for ice cream, pizza, and whatever else Nyack’s numerous local businesses and eateries have to offer.
Temptations, an independently owned ice cream business and restaurant and a favorite among locals, had a line out the door.
“How long is that line out there?” inquired one of the ice cream parlor’s waitresses to another.
“I’ve never taken so many orders!”
Temptations wasn’t the only store taking orders like never before. Crowds packed out storefronts as far as the Tarantella Pizza Restaurant nearly a mile up Main Street.
The Fourth of July fireworks show in Nyack on Monday night, not only brought hundreds of locals out to enjoy fireworks and community togetherness, but it gave huge amounts of patronage to the many well deserving independent businesses located on Main Street.Click here to follow Daily Voice Clarkstown and receive free news updates.
