Chappaqua Swim Tops Yorktown In Northern Westchester Swim Meet

CHAPPAQUA, N.Y. - The Chappaqua Swim Club opened the summer season with a 280-252 victory over Yorktown in a Northern Westchester Swim Conference Division 1 meet.

Wyatt Yates and Kasia Malendowicz each won three events to lead the Chappaqua Swim team. Yates took the Boye 8-Under age group backstroke, breaststroke and freestyle, and Malendowicz was a triple winner in the Girls 14-Under backstroke, butterfly and freestyle.

Laura Jocelyn led Yorktown by winning the Girls 10-Under backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly.

Double winners for Chappaqua were: John Koster (13-Under boys diving and butterfly), Zoe Kerrich (18-Under girls breaststroke, butterfly) and Chris Koster (18-Under boys backstroke, freestyle).

Double winners for Yorktown were: Faith McLaughlin (8-Under girls backstroke, butterfly), Christopher Macaluso (8-Under boys breaststroke, butterfly), Kaitlyn Phelan (12-Under girls breaststroke, butterfly) and Mark McLaughlin (14-Under boys backstroke, freestyle).

Malendowicz swam a 1:01.84 in the In the 14-Under girls 100-meter freestyle to break the Chappaqua team and pool record held by Susannah Rudel set in 2005 (1:02.19).

In the 18-Under 100 girls breaststroke, Zoe Kerrich swam a 1:20.66 to break the pool record set by Raquel Giner on of 1:20.68.                                                   

The Chappaqua team of Joe Weiner, Zachary Eichenberger, Stephen Pearce, and Wyatt Yates broke the 11-Under boys 200 free relay with a time of 2:22.04. The previous record was set in 2012 and held by Ellis Ritchie, Stephen Pearce, Joe Weiner, and Wyatt Yates with a time of 2:25.05.

In the 15-Under girls 200 free relay, Isabella Weiner, Gaige Elms, Margaux Weiner, and Kasia Malendowicz swam a 1:59.65 to break the team record of 2:02.26, set last year by Isabella Weiner, Gaige Elms, Margaux Weiner, and Zoe Kerrich. It also breaks the pool record of 1:59.82 held by Willowbrook (Racquel Giner, Meghan Brooks, Chase Wilt, Ali Polhill) set in 2007. From a report by Chappaqua Swim Coach Dan Levy.
