Greenstein Looks Ahead To Third Term As New Castle Supervisor

CHAPPAQUA, N.Y. -- For New Castle Supervisor Robert Greenstein, Election Day appears to be bittersweet.

Though Greenstein was elected to a third term, it appears one of his running mates, Adam Brodsky was defeated in his bid for re-election to the town board by Ivy Pool. Lisa Katz, another running mate, was elected.

"It's not a complete victory unless Adam wins as well," Greenstein said.

Greenstein, who ran on the Republican line but is a registered Democrat, turned back a strong challenge from Democrat Kristen Browde, winning by almost 400 votes.

"The message was clear," Greenstein said. "They voted down the Democratic line. I hope voters voted on the issues rather than party affiliation.

The supervisor said getting residents to focus on the issues and the work his slate had done was his goal of the election.

"It's not easy running as a Republican," Greenstein. "The fact that at least 2/3rds of our slate emerged victorious speaks volumes about our record."

The Friday before the election, Hillary Clinton announced her endorsement of the Democratic slate.

"I was disappointed," Greenstein said. "Lisa and I are Democrats. Anytime you're talking about party affiliation, it's not helpful. I don't think her endorsement was based on the issues. It was frustrating."

Four years ago, Clinton swore in Greenstein as supervisor. Despite the snub, Greenstein said he hasn't ruled out asking her to swear him in again.

"I have tremendous respect for her," Greenstein said. "We haven't gotten that far."
