The company's next New Castle Town Board public hearing is slated for May 14.
Tuesday's meeting follows last week’s third consecutive public hearing adjournment from Conifer.
The New Castle Town Board and Conifer Realty have not met in a public setting since January. Since then, the New Castle Town Board passed a “Sense of the Board” resolution on the controversial affordable housing proposal.
In the 12-page document, the board listed concerns about Conifer’s five-story, 36-unit building called Chappaqua Station for 54 Hunts Place.
A special permit from the Town Board would be needed for the proposal to go forward, which has resulted in numerous public hearings—several of which have been heavily contested by New Castle residents.
The recent resolution and clearer stance from the Town Board figures to make obtaining such a permit that much more difficult for Conifer.
