Police responded to ARC of Putnam (575 Drewville Road in Carmel) on the report of a larceny on Wednesday, Feb. 13 around 4 p.m.

Police arrived and discovered that money that belonged to ARC of Putnam and several residents of ARC housing was allegedly missing from the “house safe.”

Further investigation concluded that an assistant manager of the ARC of Putnam residence, 37-year-old James Haggerty Jr. of Fishkill, had taken the money without permission, police say.

Haggerty was arrested, charged with petit larceny, a Class A misdemeanor, and released on an appearance ticket. He is scheduled to return to the Town of Carmel Justice Court at a future date.
