Jordan Savage, of Waterbury, was apprehended when he was stopped by Watertown Police on Friday, Nov. 1, and arrested without incident after they learned of the active warrant for his arrest out of Trumbull, said Trumbull Police Lt. Brian Weir.
Savage was wanted in connection with the August robbery of the 82-year-old Fairfield County woman who was walking into the Westfield Trumbull Mall when she was pushed to the ground by a man, identified as Savage, who allegedly stole her purse and fled in her gray Honda Accord.
Trumbull Police were able to zero in on Savage through a series of related crimes and an additional stolen vehicle from locations in Connecticut and New York State, Weir said.
The vehicle he had stolen from Trumbull was recovered days later in Staten Island, and a second stolen vehicle led police to Westchester, where the vehicle was found in Tarrytown.
Evidence recovered from the Trumbull victim’s vehicle aided the police in identifying Savage and brought the investigation to Waterbury.
Savage was charged with robbery, assault of an elderly person, and two counts of larceny.
He is being held on $60,000 bail and is scheduled to appear in court on Friday, Nov. 15.
