Three Charged With Attempted Burglary in Chappaqua

CHAPPAQUA, N.Y. - New Castle Police arrested three Westchester men on Friday and charged them with attempted burglary of a Chappaqua residence.

Officers responded to the scene at approximately 4 p.m. after receiving a report of a suspicious person on the property. When officers were arriving, they said they saw a black Audi fleeing the area.

When police caught up with the vehicle on Route 133, a search allegedly revealed stolen GPS units and credit cards. According to police, several of the GPS units have been identified as being stolen from the Town of New Castle and other jurisdictions of Westchester County.

Police arrested and charged the passengers, Christopher Demauro, 25, of Yorktown, Frederick Polanco, 19, of Sleepy Hollow, and James Donovan, 25, of Tarrytown with felony second degree attempted burglary and several counts of possession of stolen property.

The men were arraigned in New Castle Justice Court and sent to the Westchester County Jail. Demauro, Polanco and Donovan are being held on $10,000 bail with a return date to New Castle Court of Feb. 9.
