New Castle Police Issues Warning to Residents

CHAPPAQUA, N.Y.--  Gov. Andrew Cuomo has upgraded the state of emergency for New York from  hurricane warning to hurricane watch. The New Castle Police followed suit, strongly advising its residents to stay off the roads and find shelter after 6 p.m. Saturday evening.

In a message sent out through a Nixle alert Friday night, New Castle Police asked residents to stay inside. The warning said utilities could be disrupted through Monday.

Police recommended people close shutters and brace garage doors. Inside, police said to turn the refrigerator to its coldest setting and keep it closed. Turn off propane tanks, unplug small appliances and fill the bathtub with water in case tap water becomes unavailable during the storm.
