Former Member Named to New Castle Planning Board

MILLWOOD, N.Y. - The vacancy left on the Planning Board by its former chair and current Town Supervisor Susan Carpenter has been filled by Millwood resident Tom Curley, Carpenter said.

"I am just so pleased that we've been able to get Tom to agree to come back on the Planning Board," Carpenter said. "He brings a level of expertise that we could not find anywhere else."

Several Millwood residents requested the board consider a resident from the hamlet to fill the vacancy in December in order to offer a different perspective. The other four members of the board live in Chappaqua.

Carpenter, however, stressed that Curley was simply the best candidate for the job and where he lived was not the primary factor.

"He has an extensive background in planning as an architect," she said. "He served on the Planning Board for ten years, and left in 2006. He has done incredible amounts of work all over the world."

Curley's appointment is the second planning change for New Castle in recent weeks. The town also announced the hiring of Sabrina Charney Hull as its new town planner, replacing David Brito. Charney Hull previously held the same job in Somers.

Carpenter said Charney Hull will be be terrific. "She has a lot of great ideas," the supervisor said.
