The tracker was established following several coyote sightings in Chappaqua, the disappearance of at least one dog, and two community meetings.
The tracker has the following features.
- The home page shows a map of all coyote sightings. There is a timeline right below the map so people can see a range of dates for viewing sitings.
- The reports page lists all the reports received.
- Submit a report is available as a menu item or a big green button on most pages. People will need to enter a report name, description, location and ideally their name to submit a report.
- Residents can sign up to get messages sent to their email box any time a report is submitted on the Get Alerts page. They will need to verify their email account to use this (part of the signup process).
Information on the site is provided by the public and is not verified by any town agency.
