Chappaqua Man In Brussels Says City's On Lockdown After Terror Attacks

CHAPPAQUA, N.Y. -- A Chappaqua resident who is in Brussels on business for the American Jewish Committee says conditions are tense there after Tuesday’s terror attacks, but there are no signs of widespread panic, according to a report by lohud.com

David Harris, the committee’s executive director, reported in an email to lohud,com that parts of the Belgium capital were locked down, including areas near his hotel, and that terrorists were still being hunted by authorities.

According to multiple media reports, Islamic State has claimed responsibility for three attacks – two at the capital’s airport and one at a subway station – that left dozens of people dead and more than 200 injured.

According to the American Jewish Committee’s website, Harris has led the global advocacy organization since 1990.

Harris travels the world meeting with world leaders to promote Israel and combat anti-Semitism among other things, the committee’s website said.
