Chappaqua Foundation Kicks Off With Fundraiser

Chappaqua, NY -- The Anne Marie Crabtree Foundation had its official coming out at the Crabtree Kittle House Tuesday.

About 200 people attended a fundraiser for the foundation, which recently received nonprofit status. Anne Marie Crabtree helped established the Crabbletree Kittle House with her husband, John, and was known for community service.

She died in 2009 from brain cancer and her family started the foundation to continue her legacy. Tuesday’s event was held on what would have been Crabtree’s 55th birthday.

“When she was alive, she was a philanthropic person,” said Christine, one of Anne Marie’s four daughters. “We have four causes that we want to donate money to: brain cancer, animal rights, women’s shelters and underprivileged children. Those are the causes that were important to her.”

Although the event was announced as a fundraiser, Christine the said the event was more about getting the word out to the community.

The event featured food and auction items donated by different businesses in the community.

Said John Crabtree: “I couldn’t be more pleased. I’m shocked by the amount of people who have come out tonight.”
