At an animal shelter, every dog and cat has a story. And you can get to know the animals by sitting down and playing with them before you decide whether to adopt.

Shelton's animal shelter at 11 Brewster Lane opened about two years ago and still feels fresh. It has since become home to may strays in the area.

"At our shelter here, we take great care of the cats and dogs that come through here. They're in the best of care and ready to go to their forever homes," says Michelle DeAngelo, one of the animal control officers at the shelter.

On staff, there are two animal control officers -- Michelle DeAngelo and Jason Mclain. Leon Sylvestor is the manager.

Adoption fees are only $75, cheaper than many other shelters.

Each dog or cat is checked out by a veterinarian and you get a gift of a care package before you head home with your new addition.

"Come check our our shelter and bring home a new family member with you," says Sylvestor.
