"Programs like these are crucial for our community because parents sometimes lack the necessary information and the confidence to accurately teach their children about sexuality," said Simonetti. The focus of "The Big Talk” will be on guiding parents and helping them to feel comfortable communicating openly, honestly and effectively with their children. "When parents communicate with their kids, it has a great impact on their future decisions," said Simonetti. "Every family has their own values, and this talk provides an overview about what children should know about sexuality, sex and when they need to know it by."

Simonetti has devoted eight years of her career to directing comprehensive sexuality education programs, and for seven years, managed HIV/AIDS prevention programs in Westchester County, specializing in high-risk populations. She has spent the last ten years promoting health, safety and wellness in northern Westchester County.  She has trained thousands of people throughout New York State, working in clinics, hospitals, schools and various community organizations.

"The Big Talk Made Small & Simple" will be held at Northern Westchester Hospital on Wednesday, Feb. 8 from 7:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. Admission is $10. Participants can register here.
