Paterson Man, 43, Dies In Crash With Dump Truck, Guardrail On Route 80: State Police A 43-year-old Paterson man was killed after he crashed into a truck on Route 80 in Essex County on the early morning of Friday, April 12, authorities said. Sixto Torres-Duran was driving a Mazda eastbound on Route 80 in Fairfield when he lost directional control, ran off the roadway to the right and crashed into a guardrail just after 2:45 a.m., Jeffrey Lebron, a spokesman for the New Jersey State Police said. Black Maria Revamped: New Film Studio Approved In West Orange West Orange is going to back to its movie-making roots. Last December, the township approved a redevelopment agreement to develop a film studio at the site credited with the birthplace film industry. The studio will be build on 12.2 acres adjacent to Thomas Edison National Historical Park and behind the Edison Lofts on Main Street, the site of the original film production studio, Black Maria, from the late 1880s. Former Flemington Councilman Indicted For Stealing $1K From Democrats: Prosecutor A former member of the town council was recently for indicted for stealing $1,000 from the Flemington Democratic Club last year, authorities said. Malik Johnston, a 47-year-old Flemington resident, was indicted for theft by a grand jury in Hunterdon County for stealing $1,000 from the club's bank account at a branch in Bridgewater, Hunterdon County Prosecutor Renée M. Robeson said. Raritan Man Arrested In Stabbing: Prosecutor A 31-year-old Raritan man was arrested and charged with a stabbing that occurred in the early morning of Monday, April 1, authorities said. Jose Cruz-Guzman stabbed another man in the hand during an argument just before 4 a.m., Somerset County Prosecutor John McDonald said. Following an investigation, Cruz-Guzman was arrested in Raritan Borough later that day and charged with aggravated assault and multiple weapons offenses, McDonald said. New Jersey State Police Mourns K-9 Echo, Explosive Detection Dog Echo, who served in the New Jersey State Police K-9 unit for 11 years, was laid to rest on Thursday, April 4 due to health issues, the NJSP announced on Facebook. 10-Year-Old Boy Missing From Newark For Days: Police A 10-year-old boy, who was last seen in Newark on Wednesday, April 10, is missing, police said. Ayaan Khan left his home on North 13th Street between 7:15 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., Newark Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé said. A frequent runaway, Khan is 4'6" and weighs 70 lbs., Fragé said. Suspicious Man Followed College Students, Juvenile In Hackettstown: Police Three women, including a juvenile, recently reported being followed or approached by a suspicious man in Hackettstown, authorities said.
