The Bronxville Concordia College baseball team swept a doubleheader from host Chestnut Hill Thursday with a 4-1 extra-inning win in the opening game and a 10-4 victory in the finale of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) meeting.
Christian Fiorito of Yonkers slammed a three-run homerun in the top of the 10th inning to give the Clippers the winning edge in the opener.
The first game was a pitchers duel and scoreless tie over the first six innings until Concordia scored the first run of the game in the top of the seventh as Jason Berrios drove in Raul Gonzalez from third base with a single. The Clippers held the 1-0 lead into the bottom of the ninth until Chestnut Hill scored to send the game into extra innings.
Felix Lopez, who went all 10 innings on the mound for Concordia, allowed five hits and one run to earn the victory in Game 1.
In the second game, Concordia scored quickly with Fiorito and Mike Manganiello driving in runs for a 2-0 lead in the first inning. The Clippers added two more runs in the top of the fourth with a David Perlleshi (Eastchester) two-double and Yonatan Rodriguezs (Tarrytown) run-scoring single for a 4-0 lead and scored six more runs in the final two innings to earn the victory.
Concordia pitcher Anthony Pisano allowed seven hits and four runs over nine innings to get the win in Game 2.
The Clippers (8-26, 6-6 CACC) will return home for a doubleheader Saturday against Wilmington (Del.) in a conference showdown with first pitch scheduled for noon at Clipper Baseball Field.
