BRONXVILLE, N.Y. -- A little rain did not stop 112 Bronxville High School seniors from celebrating their graduation at the school’s 93rd annual commencement.
Standing on the front steps of the school on June 20, the girls wore white, formal gowns and carried bouquets of red roses, while the boys sported white jackets, black bow ties and rose boutonnieres. Family and friends carried umbrellas and wiped down the damp chairs with paper towels.
Addressing the graduates were Brendan Walsh, president of the Class of 2015; Edward Forst, student faculty legislative president; and Brooks J. Klimley, parent speaker.
Presenting departmental achievement awards was Bronxville Principal Ann Meyer.
The students, and the awards they received, were Morgan Taylor, English; George Grealy, Latin and social studies; Xiao Huang, mathematics; Chrysoula Passos, French; Lucy Whitney, science; and Sally Kwok, Spanish.
Grealy also received the school’s award for overall academic achievement. Passos was given an award by the Bronxville Teachers’ Association as the student who most demonstrated passion for lifelong learning and an interest in teaching.
Receiving the Gwinn Awards for excellence in the arts were Andrew Walter-McNeill, instrumental music; Silas White, band; Sally Kwok, fine arts; Kylie Regan, vocal music; and Luke Geiling, drama.
