Crawford grew up in Bronxville, where he attended the Chapel School and Bronxville School; Waccabuc, where he attended Rippowam Cisqua School and Atlanta, where he graduated from Woodward Academy in 1991. He also attended Indian Mountain School in Lakeville, CT and Elon College in North Carolina. As an adult, he lived in Atlanta and the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

Crawford had a wonderfully sharp sense of a humor and a great smile. He loved to tease and make jokes, and it was always a fun challenge to try to make him laugh in return.

Crawford made friends wherever he went. From the nurses at his doctor’s office to the bartenders at his local spot, Crawford knew everyone and everyone knew him.

He was fiercely loyal to his friends and family. He was known for sending gifts to his loved ones, who often received flowers on special occasions or gifts from Amazon just because he was thinking of them.

He loved his dogs, a good story, stand-up comedy and steak dinners. He was an entrepreneur who brought many of his ideas to fruition. He was a longtime collector of art created by his dear friend, the late Joey Waldon. While Crawford was in very poor health with complications from multiple sclerosis over the last years of his life, he nevertheless retained his trademark humor and compassion for others. Crawford was loved by many, and he will be deeply missed.

Crawford is survived by his sisters, Melissa Shaw Fleming of Bedford and Deirdre Shaw Gibson of Santa Monica, California; his brothers-in-law Greg Fleming and Jay Gibson; his nieces, Andrea Fleming and Charlotte Fleming; his nephews Rory Fleming, Sam Gibson and James Gibson; many aunts, uncles, cousins, step-siblings, step-cousins,and loyal friends as well as friends who were like family to him, Rick Bowers of Atlanta, GA and Cory Evans, Rusty Evans, and Ruth Ann Runnels and family of Denison, TX.

His family and friends are grateful to Crawford’s amazing doctors and nurses over the years, especially Dr. Kelleen Fitzgerald of Atlanta, Dr. Jennifer Wilkerson of Dallas, and nurse Holly Harris of Dallas, all of whom went to extraordinary lengths to care for Crawford with great devotion, patience and understanding.

A private memorial will be held in Montana. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Race to Erase MS
