Mario Mieles, 31, of Ossining, pleaded guilty this week to attempted murder and criminal possession of a weapon after shooting at a man nine times with a semi-automatic pistol, striking him multiple times.
Westchester County District Attorney Anthony Scarpino, Jr., said that at approximately 4:45 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 10, last year, Mieles shot a man with a semi-automatic pistol several times on Van Cortlandt Avenue in Ossining.
The shooting victim was taken to an area hospital and survived, while Mieles fled the scene. Mieles’ victim suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was left in serious condition, Scarpino said.
Scarpino said that Mieles’ victim suffered multiple gunshot wounds and sustained life-altering, permanent injuries. Mieles and his victim have known each other for years, the DA noted.
The investigation into the shooting led to the recovery of a .40 caliber Smith and Wesson, which was found near the scene by a passerby. Investigators were able o match the gun with the shell casings and other evidence recovered at the scene of the shooting.
Mieles is scheduled to be sentenced on Friday, April 24.
