BRONXVILLE, N.Y. The Concordia College Clippers women's basketball played their first home game of the season Monday and dropped the opener to the Bears of New York Institute of Technology 86-71 at the Meyer Athletic Center.
Concordia began the game on a 12-3 run making six of its first eight shots. With 8:17 remaining in the first, Concordia held a 10 point lead, but NYIT went on a 21-3 run in a span of 3:44 to take an eight point lead. The Bears extended their lead and went into halftime with a 47-33 lead.
Senior Chanessa Blakemore (Albany, N.Y.) led Concordia with 21 points on 7-of-13 shooting from the field and added a team-high 12 rebounds for her third straight double-double. Junior Krystina Agard (Queens, N.Y.) added 15 points, nine assists and six rebounds while junior Sade Jones (Patterson N.J.) dropped 14 points.
The Clippers (1-3, 0-0 in league) will be back in action this weekend in the 47th Annual East Stroudsburg Classic in East Stroudsburg, Pa. Concordia will first face Notre Dame (Ohio) at 5p.m. on Saturday then plays East Stroudsburg on Sunday at 5p.m.
