BRIARCLIFF MANOR, N.Y. -- Briarcliff Middle and High School band musicians listened to exciting arrangements and learned about new instruments during a recent visit from West Point’s Quintet Seven.
“As a freelance musician, I have had the opportunity to perform with some of the members of the West Point Band,” said band teacher Christopher Melito. “Through this relationship, I learned of the many educational outreaches offered by these musicians and was able to request a performance and clinic by Quintet Seven for our middle and high school band students.”
The members of Quintet Seven are all active members of the U.S. Army and full-time West Point musicians. The group treated Briarcliff students to arrangements ranging from opera to tango.
Students were in awe of their talent and cohesion during the concert and were eager to ask the musicians questions about their instruments and profession.
